- The Homeschool Banner: a bi-monthly newsletter, which
contains information on activities, our annual conference, helpful articles,
legislative updates, and teaching tips.
- Legislative Liaison: Heritage Communications of WV is a non-
profit organization that represents CHEWV during the legislative session.
Heritage provides information and updates through their website by
monitoring, lobbying, and reporting of legislative & legal activity on
both state and national level.
- Christian perspective: We seek to encourage and support West
Virginia families in the exercise of their God-given responsibility and
constitutional freedom to train and educate their children at home and to
promote home schooling as a valuable means to strengthen families in an
environment that facilitates discipleship of children in the Christian faith.
- The CHEWV Update: A monthly email encouragement is sent
when you provide your email address, which is never rented, sold,
distributed, or used outside of CHEWV.
- Annual Conference: Nationally-known former speakers
have included Ken Ham, David Barton, Dr. Jeff Myers, and Todd
Wilson. CHEWV’s conference assists in the training and
edification of Christian homeschooling families. The Exhibit Hall is
filled with vendors who share our purpose and support Christian
perspectives.
- Graduation Ceremony: A personalized and encouraging
celebration of achievement with families who have completed that
milestone in the education of their children.
- Home School Legal Defense Association: CHEWV Members
receive a $20 annual discount with HSLDA, a nonprofit advocacy
organization established to defend and advance the constitutional right
of parents to direct the education of their children and to protect family
freedoms. Through annual memberships, HSLDA is tens of thousands of
families united in service together, providing a strong voice when and
where needed.
- Testing Service: Assists in compliance with the state-
mandated annual assessment. Provided, is a report to each
county superintendent with a certifying stamp validating participation in
CHEWV’s testing program.
- Homeschool Day at the Capitol: Home schoolers across the
state assemble to help keep our legislative leaders aware of our
achievements and freedoms through displays, presentations, and
personal contacts.
- Fine Arts Festival: The Fine Arts Festival is a recognized
statewide event where CHEWV members are able to gain recognition in
areas of expertise. Home Educators in West Virginia may only participate
through affiliation with CHEWV.
- Support Groups: A central contact point for new or relocating
home educators to find other homeschooling families or a support group
in their local area. We have established contacts in nearly all WV counties.
- Personal Consultations: Contact any CHEWV Board member
for personal & private discussions built upon many years of home
education experience.
